19 Oct Utah Fly Fishing Report, October 19
Provo River
Most of the fish in the Lower and Middle Provo River are in a pre-spawn mode right now which makes them aggressive and fairly easy to catch. The streamer fishing is great right now. You do have to deal with the weeds on the Lower a bit but, for the size of the stream, their are more fish in that section of water than any other trout stream I’ve ever fished. Utah Fly Guides has a really cool technique for catching aggressive pre-spawn browns on the Lower, Middle Provo, and Weber Rivers. Some of these fish are pretty large and this is the time for catching them. There are also some big rainbows moving up stream right now.
Lakes
Word on the stream says that Strawberry Reservoir and many of the other big trout lakes in Utah are hot right now. A few of the Utah Fly Guides have been out on the flat water and have been killing some bruiser cutthroats, rainbows, and tiger trout.
Fall is perhaps the best time to visit Utah and fast fall fishing makes it all the better!
